Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2008 Bourgogne Chardonnay 16 Drink 2010-2012
Straightforward, honest white burgundy. Lemon zest on the nose, more restrained on the palate. Clean but not lean. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2008 St-Romain 16.5 Drink 2011-2017
Ripe with a hint of orange and apricot flavour. 10% new oak (as neutral and non toasted as possible) adds roundness rather than oak flavour. Very fine-grained texture. Dry and deliciously refreshing. Good concentration. Accomplished. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2008 Meursault 16.5 Drink 2011-2015
Really creamy, almost buttery nose. Broad and sweetly oaked on the palate. A light grip and a fresh finish, leaving spice on the tip of your tongue. Good length. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot, Premier Cru 2008 Meursault-Blagny 17 Drink 2012-2015
Much more mineral and less obviously appealing on the nose than the straight Meursault. Straight and determined. Underlying mineral power and depth. Austere but in a good way. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot, Charmes Premier Cru 2008 Meursault 17 Drink 2012-2016
Can I smell toffee? Almost. Definitely sweetness of fruit. Dense and creamy but lively too. Long spiced finish while the oak is still on the surface. A lot more to come. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot, Les Chalumaux Premier Cru 2008 Puligny-Montrachet 17.5 Drink 2012-2016
Complex and inviting: lots of oak but rich clear fruit at the core. Powerful, dry and smoky mineral notes to the very end. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2008 Monthelie 17 Drink 2012-2017
Complex mix of fruit and meat but also perfumed. Sweet fruit right through the palate, smooth, quite dense, harmonious already though there is a fine framework of tannin and acid. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2008 Meursault 17.5 Drink 2013-2020
The little strip just below Volnay Santenots. Pure and bright. Shiny red fruit, like cheeks (facial!) in from the cold. Scented with the same red fruit on the palate, tannins are present but so fine, they slip over your palate and leave your mouth with a memory of that bright fruit on the finish. Complete. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot 2008 Auxey-Duresses 17 Drink 2013-2019
Rich, warm and inviting. Lovely bright pure juicy red fruit though not just that. Finest note of spice though the oak is very much in the background. Elegant and long. (JH)
Dom Thierry et Pascale Matrot, La Pièce Sous le Bois Premier Cru 2008 Blagny 17 Drink 2013-2020
A little more meaty than the red Meursault but still that bright fruit. Darker and more savoury yet still fragrant and long. Fine, refreshing length. (JH)
